Importing Leads - Step 3: Field Mapping for Import

This article is Step 3 in our 5-step Guide to Importing Leads.

Be sure to complete Step 2: Upload a Lead File for Import before you proceed.

Field Mapping for Import

Field mapping determines what CRM field each piece of your lead data is stored in after your file is imported. All Standard and Custom Fields in your CRM will be available for mapping, and you can also create new fields if needed.

Automatic Field Mapping

Once you upload your lead file, the Import Tool will review your column headers and automatically map them the closest match in ReadyMode's Internal Fields.

Next, the Import Tool will display a list of your file's column headers (blue) on the left, and ReadyMode's Internal Fields (red) on the right.

Please review each mapping pair and confirm it is correct. If not, you can change the mapping manually.

Quick Tip: After you import your first lead list, ReadyMode will remember your mapping choices and apply them next time!

If you see star icons next to any of the fields, it means ReadyMode could not automatically map them. Please map these manually following the instructions in the next section.

Manual Field Mapping

To map your fields manually, click the arrow icon on each field to open the drop-down menu and select an option. You'll see the following options to choose from:

  • Don't import (1) - Choose this option to tell ReadyMode not to import data from the mapped column.
  • Recommended choices (2) - Displays the automatic mapping selections that ReadyMode has recommended (if available).
  • Add new field (3) - Displays a list of options allowing you to create a new Custom Field.
  • Profile fields (4) - Displays a list of existing Standard and Custom Fields available.

Now you're ready for Step 4: Configuring Import Settings.
